Campus Facilities

We are pleased to offer our pupils a variety of award-winning facilities, designed to enhance the curriculum and create inviting spaces for our pupils to learn.
We’re proud to have been awarded the Best Design Education Project of the Year at the Design Middle East Awards 2018 (the year our school opened), a testament to the quality and design of The Aquila School’s campus and facilities.

Performing Arts Facilities

The Aquila School believes that music, drama and dance allows children to express themselves in a way that enriches their learning by harnessing creativity, which complements academic achievements. Our well-equipped music and arts facilities, which includes dedicated music, drama and dance studios, encourages young musicians, actors and dancers of all abilities and across all age groups to get involved and build their self-confidence, imagination and creative skills. The Aquila School has a wonderful auditorium that is used for a range of events, from assemblies to music and theatre performances.

We have an immersive 'black box' performance studio due to open in August 2024.

Sports Facilities

Physical activity plays a crucial role in children’s development and wellbeing. Our children enjoy access to: two large multipurpose sports halls, two (heated and chilled) swimming pools (with weekly swimming lessons in Early Years and Primary, and morning lessons for secondary), an outdoor multi-purpose sports court, astro pitch, fitness gym, and shaded outdoor play areas

We will be adding two 5-a-side football pitches in August 2024.

Art and Design Technology, including Food Technology

Our curriculum includes art, design and technology – children learn to make things, take things apart, and discover how things work! In Primary, we have a dedicated cooking room, technology lab and art studio

As our extension is finished in August 2024, in secondary we will have two dedicated food technology and hospitality kitchens, two design technology workshops and three art studios.

Hydroponics farms and Green House

All of our children have access to hydroponics farms in school, so they can see how food is grown. Our Primary hydroponics farm includes fish, rabbits and parrots. As pupils progress into secondary, in our new building this transitions into a traditional green house and also a technological state-of-the-art UV / LED vertical hydroponics garden - both of these are incorporated within our food technology curriculum to allow pupils to use what they grow.

Computing and Robotics

We have invested in the latest technology to enhance our teaching and learning. Our primary children have access to a range of devices, including laptops and iPads and interactive panels for classroom use across the curriculum. We also have a specialised computer suite available for them to use, equipped with robots. Secondary pupils have access to two specialist STEM labs which include a drone arena and robotics tables.

Libraries

The Aquila School has three large libraries stocked with thousands of physical books to encourage children to develop a love of reading and support their learning. The secondary library, known as the Learning Hub, is designed to allow pupils to learn, research and collaborate. Sixth Form pupils will also have access to thousands of additional texts and journals digitally

Study Centre

As we open Year 12 and welcome Sixth Form pupils into our school, they will have access to the Sixth Form Study Centre and Silent Study Room. Both of these area provide a quality learning environment to allow pupils to focus and work independently during the school day.

Medical Care

We have our own in-school clinic and full-time medical staff to provide care and support in the event of illnesses and accidents. Our Doctor, two nurses and counsellor are also on hand if families need advice.

Canteen & Senior's Cafe

We actively promote healthy eating at The Aquila School as we know that when children eat nutritionally rich food they have more energy and approach their studies with more enthusiasm. We work with a catering company who provide a daily choice of healthy nutritious meals.

Alternatively, children may choose to bring their own healthy packed lunch (We also ask that no nuts are brought into the school due to nut allergies).

Our canteen and Senior's Cafe are both due to open in August 2024.

Families are also welcome to enjoy our community café, The Parrot Café, open daily from 7:30am until 4:00pm.
