Learning English
At The Aquila School, we recognize that not all of our pupils speak English as their first language. That's why we offer a comprehensive English Language Learning (ELL) program to support pupils in developing their English skills so that they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
ELL Students: Personalised Language Instructions
Our ELL program is designed to meet the individual needs of each pupil.
We assess pupils' English skills upon entry and throughout the year, and use this information to develop personalised language plans.
Our English tutors set specific goals for each pupil's language development, and provide individualised and small group instruction to help pupils achieve their goals.

Enhancing ELL Skills
In addition to direct English language instruction, our ELL program also includes a variety of activities to help pupils build their vocabulary and comprehension skills in different academic areas.
We also provide opportunities for pupils to practise their English skills in social and recreational settings.
Our goal is for all of our ELL pupils to become confident and fluent English speakers and readers. We believe that all pupils deserve the opportunity to succeed, and we are committed to providing the support they need to reach their full potential.
Qualified English Curriculum: Teachers and Tutors
Our English curriculum teachers are all qualified teachers, who hold UK Qualified Teacher Status.
Our ELL Tutors are all qualified to teach English Language Learners as they hold a degree or post-graduate certificate in English and/or education, or they have completed the Cambridge CELTA or DELTA qualifications.
