Celebrating GCSE exam results at The Aquila School, Dubai
The Aquila School in Dubai celebrated its first set of GCSE exam results, with students achieving exceptionally well.
We are thrilled to announce the impressive achievements of our first-ever GCSE cohort at The Aquila School. These results reflect the hard work, grit, and dedication of our pupils and staff alike.
Our principal, Mr. Howsen, reflected on the achievements stating, "As a British curriculum school in Dubai, GCSE results are an important part of a student’s academic journey, and I am delighted that our first set of results are so high. These results confirm that as a school, we ensure our pupils are academically successful and are thriving because learning is relevant and engaging."
Mrs. Connolly, Head of Secondary, shared her pride in our pupils, saying, "I am incredibly proud of our first cohort of Year 11 pupils. Their results are a testament not only to the dedication of our teachers but also to the hard work and perseverance each pupil has shown in striving to reach their full potential. Here is a closer look at some of this year’s highlights:
English excellence
Our pupils have truly excelled in English, with 100% of pupils achieving a grade 4 or above in their English GCSE. This is a testament to the strong foundation our English department provides, fostering not just literacy but a love for the language.
For those taking English as a second language, the results are equally impressive, with 80% of pupils achieving a grade 7 or above. This accomplishment highlights the commitment and resilience of our pupils, many of whom are mastering a new language.
Maths success
In Maths, our pupils have demonstrated their strong analytical skills, with 68% achieving a grade 6 or above. This result is particularly noteworthy and reflects our dedication to making maths both challenging and engaging.
Science achievements
Our science department has also delivered commendable results. Biology stands out with outstanding results, while chemistry pupils performed very well. These achievements underscore the importance of scientific inquiry and the enthusiasm our pupils bring to these subjects.
Geography & design technology highlights
Geography has emerged as another area of excellence, with 80% of pupils scoring a grade 7 or above. This achievement shows our pupils' strong grasp of the world around them and their ability to think critically about global issues.
In Design Technology (DT), 65% of pupils achieved a Grade 6 or above, showcasing their creativity and technical skills. We are incredibly proud of the innovative projects our pupils have developed in DT, setting a high standard for future cohorts.
Top performers
A special congratulations goes to our top-performing pupils who have excelled across multiple subjects:
- Aaser: Scored an outstanding six grade 9s
- Aayan: Achieved grade 9 in three subjects and grade 8 in six subjects
- Khadyja: Secured grade 9 in two subjects and grade 8 in five subjects
- Daniel: Attained grade 8 in three subjects and grade 7 in three subjects
- Divit: Scored grade 9 in one subject and grade 7 in five subjects
- Vaaniya: Achieved grade 8 in two subjects and grade 7 in three subjects
Additionally, we are delighted to acknowledge the exceptional achievement of Maryia, a Year 9 pupil, who sat her maths GCSE early and scored a grade 9. Maryia's success is a testament to the talent and determination that thrives within our school.
