Public Speaking
Public speaking is a vital skill for all pupils to learn, regardless of their future career or academic aspirations.
It is the ability to communicate effectively with an audience, and it is essential for success in many different areas of life.
Teaching Public Speaking at The Aquila School
At The Aquila School, we believe that public speaking is an essential part of a pupil's education.
We teach our pupils how to speak clearly and confidently, how to structure their arguments effectively, and how to engage their audience.
Opportunities for Practising
We offer a variety of opportunities for pupils to practise their public speaking skills.
- For example, our secondary pupils participate in the World Scholar's Cup, a global academic tournament that includes a public speaking component.
- Our Primary children take part in the World Scholar's Skittles event, a fun and interactive way to learn public speaking skills.
TEDx Talks
We have also hosted two TEDx talks at The Aquila School. TEDx talks are short, powerful presentations on a wide range of topics.
Giving a TEDx talk is a challenging but rewarding experience, and it is a great way for pupils to share their ideas with the world.

Model United Nations and ISP Events
In addition to participating in the World Scholar's Cup and giving TEDx talks, our pupils also have the opportunity to participate in local Model United Nations events, as well as online ISP events.
These events give pupils the chance to practise their public speaking skills in a competitive setting and to learn from other talented pupils from around the world.
