At The Aquila School, safety isn’t just a priority – it’s the foundation of our Safe, Happy Learning philosophy.All staff members – including external activity providers – complete mandatory safeguarding training, as do our registered 'Helping Hands' parent volunteers. For added protection, we have designated child protection officers with advanced training. This multi-layered safety net allows children to learn and grow with confidence, knowing they are always cared for.

Pauline Lamond
Safeguarding Lead
Pauline has over 22 years’ experience supporting the wellbeing of young people. She began her career in Edinburgh, later worked in the South of England, and moved to Dubai six years ago. Pauline has helped shape Child Protection Guidelines for local councils and holds a PGCE in Education Support (Pastoral), along with advanced safeguarding training. She believes the best outcomes arise when schools and families work together in trust and partnership. Alongside her safeguarding role, Pauline enjoys teaching English and History.
At our IB school in Dubai, safeguarding is everyone's top priority. Our comprehensive support systems ensure every student learns happily and safely – whether in class, on campus, during trips or online.We maintain the highest standards of digital safety, renewing our National Online Safety accreditation annually through staff training. This ensures our community stays protected in all learning environments.
Students' safety comes first. Our expert designated safeguarding leads and multilingual support team ensure complete protection and care for every student.
Students grow in a safe community where every staff, teacher, administrative personnel and contractor undergoes rigorous safeguarding and Educare child protection training, including scenario-based sessions.Â
Students learn in a protected environment, with 24/7 security monitoring, controlled entry points and comprehensive CCTV coverage across campus. For added safety, all staff wear clearly visible, colour-coded lanyards so they're instantly identifiable to every child.
Students thrive with dedicated mental health support - including counsellors, mentors and wellbeing programmes that build resilience, emotional skills and healthy coping strategies.
Students benefit from our well-equipped Health Centre - staffed with two nurses and a doctor. It features a waiting area, observation beds, and medical equipment of the highest standards, including a defibrillator.
All employees undergo rigorous background checks including police clearance, references and safeguarding declarations, following ISP and UAE guidelines.
At our IB curriculum school in Dubai, students develop essential digital citizenship and e-safety skills through dedicated computing and PSHE lessons. We complement this with parent workshops on online safety, while our technology systems include proactive monitoring of student device use on campus.
Learners are encouraged to speak up, with regular wellbeing surveys, student leadership roles and a culture where children feel heard and safe.
